Nauti by Nature – Bermuda: Part 2 of 2

Location: Bermuda
Sweater: Aritzia | Gingham Shorts: Crewcuts – Frankie short | Bandana: Levi’s (I also want this one and this one) | Sandals: Havaianas | Gingham Top: Whistles (I also like this gingham dress)  | White Shorts: Crewcuts (J.Crew version here) | Coral Dress: Zara (similar dress I want here and here) | Necklace: Amazon

My first boat experience was not a great one. Stephen’s family lived on a lake just outside of Portland, where we went to college, and on the first day of summer he took me to pick up his boat to drive it back to their house. Since he drives like a bit of an a-hole I went flying to the back of the boat and narrowly escaped serious head trauma, or worse, a broken tooth (this is one of my biggest fears). That summer, my friends and I basically lived on the lake, we went tandem inner tubing every weekend where I would get kicked in the face or catapulted into a face flop Every. Single. Time. Eventually I manned up and just admitted, “I hate inner tubing, I just want to lay out, tan, and talk.” No one protested this idea because, turns out, everyone felt like they were going to die inner tubing…you see how it only takes one person to speak up and make a change.

Resting Beach Face – Bermuda: Part 1 of 2

Location: Southampton, Bermuda
Sequin Skirt: AllSaints (similar here)| Pink Swimsuit: Body Glove | Hat: Hurley (similar here) | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Grey Shorts: Aritzia (Heather/White Oak Color) | Flamingo: Amazon (this one includes a motorized pump)| Round Towel: Cotton On (I also like this one and this one) | Speaker: Nixon (Marbled Multicolor)

Bermuda, an island with pink sand beaches and a travel campaign I can certainly get behind, “More Pink.” Ironically, my 21st birthday was a pink party, so I guess I came full circle for my 30th with a birthday trip to Bermuda. Turning 30 was a bit bittersweet because Norma always said “it’s all down hill after 30”; so far the anticipated rapid aging hasn’t set in but the night is still young.

Straight Outta Cayman

Location: Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
Sequin Jumpsuit: Nasty Gal | Wetsuit: Duskii (worn with Wilfred Free Charlene Short – Aritzia) | Belt: Grundéns | Dress: Olcay Gulsen | Pink Bikini: VS Swim | Black and Orange Bikini: VS Swim

We celebrated our one-year anniversary with a trip to Grand Cayman. Our last few trips had been to Europe and we had yet to take a true tropical beach vacation. Since we live in NYC, we needed a break from crowds and opted for an off-season destination. The Caribbean still has great weather in October but offers lower fares and rates since it’s at the end of hurricane season; so we started our search there. When Stephen and I travel we like to do activities, neither of us can sit and “relax” for very long, so we compared the Caribbean islands from that angle and eventually landed on Grand Cayman. The selling point for me was the opportunity to swim with stingrays in their natural habitat, in what looked like the most beautiful turquoise water. We stayed at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort, also known as The Beach House, because of it’s location on Seven Mile Beach and modern beach house vibe.
